About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor / Maintenance Trainer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant maintenance operations while leading, training, and developing Maintenance Generalists. This position coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, minimizes equipment downtime, and ensures compliance with safety, food safety, SQF, GMP, and company policies. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, this role serves as the primary trainer for maintenance personnel, ensuring consistent skill development, standardized maintenance practices, and regulatory compliance across the department.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certificate preferred OR 5+ years of related experience and training OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance lead or supervisor with direct reports
  • Demonstrated experience leading, evaluating, and training maintenance technicians
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Broad technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, and basic PLC systems
  • Proven ability to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong commitment to safety, food safety, and quality standards
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to listen, understand, and convey technical and operational information to team members
  • Basic PLC experience required
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with CMMS systems required
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Ability to work around energized equipment and moving machinery

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in food manufacturing or fresh plant operations strongly preferred
  • SAP experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, lead, and direct Maintenance Generalists and maintenance technicians
  • Assign work, prioritize maintenance activities, and manage daily workloads
  • Coordinate preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance to minimize production downtime
  • Monitor equipment performance and downtime metrics; identify and implement improvements
  • Review work orders, equipment history, and maintenance records to identify trends and recurring issues
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in developing and enforcing maintenance policies and procedures
  • Ensure maintenance activities align with production schedules and sanitation requirements
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, and basic PLC-related issues
  • Direct and assist with repairs as needed to restore equipment functionality
  • Ensure tools, spare parts, and materials are properly managed and available
  • Serve as the primary trainer for Maintenance Generalists and new maintenance hires
  • Develop, deliver, and document training programs for equipment operation, troubleshooting, PM tasks, and safe work practices
  • Ensure maintenance employees are properly trained on SOPs, LOTO, GMPs, SQF requirements, and food safety expectations
  • Provide hands-on coaching, mentoring, and skills assessments for maintenance personnel
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate cross-training to build a versatile maintenance team
  • Maintain training records and ensure compliance with regulatory and company training requirements
  • Support continuous improvement through ongoing technical and safety training initiatives
  • Promote and enforce a strong “Safety First” culture within the maintenance department
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations, GMPs, SQF requirements, and company policies
  • Ensure maintenance work does not compromise food safety, sanitation, or product integrity
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and compliance gaps
  • Support audits and inspections related to maintenance, safety, and food safety
  • The Maintenance Supervisor / Maintenance Trainer is responsible for upholding company values and ensuring all maintenance operations are performed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations, SQF standards, GMPs, and company policies.
  • This role is critical to building a skilled maintenance workforce, maintaining equipment reliability, and supporting safe, efficient operations at the Vicksburg Plant.
