About The Position

The position effectively oversees maintenance of facility equipment and supplies ordering for a variety of program areas. Works with vendors for repairs and ensures risk and preventative maintenance plans are in place and follows Association Standards. Requirements

  • 5+ years' of supervision experience in maintenance and/or related working experience
  • Professional knowledge of general maintenance and janitorial techniques, the use of hand and power tools and the ability to understand mechanical systems as well as general carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical skills
  • Current CPO certification within 60 days of employment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office
  • Knowledge of and expertise in maintenance and facility department operations
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross American Heart Association American Safety & Health Institute YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and communicate with vendors on maintenance and repair projects
  • Print, route and ensure maintenance work orders/projects are completed in a timely manner
  • Supervise all functions of the Facilities department for the branch with regards to cleaning, safety and well-maintained equipment
  • Work with vendors to ensure facility projects are completed within agreed upon budget and scope of work
  • Responsible for the development and supervision of department budget
  • Ensure all YMCA policies and procedures, and Facility department requirements are adhered to at all times
  • Participate as active member of staff and volunteer teams, and work with supervisor to develop and implement operational plans
  • Participate in branch events and fundraisers, as needed
  • Excellent organizational skills, knowledge and ability to follow any safety and health standards
  • Professional demeanor, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well with the public, staff and volunteers
  • Self-starter with a high skill level in problem solving strategies
  • Ability to lift 50-80 lbs.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
  • Other duties as assigned
