This is a fully onsite position, day shift with on call responsibilities. All candidates should live within a 50 mile commutable distance to the Williamsport, PA location.

  • Leadership of the hourly maintenance personnel in a safe and efficient manner while ensuring minimal downtime and impact on production.
  • Planning maintenance activities and overseeing maintenance functions such as preventative maintenance, repairs, new equipment installation, and process improvements.
  • Managing the equipment safety and preventative maintenance programs in accordance with West and OSHA requirements.
  • Coordinating with Scheduling Planners and Operations to ensure that all preventive maintenance activities are scheduled and completed.
  • Supervising a multiple shift team in the maintenance and installation of pharmaceutical equipment consistent with high quality standards.
  • Initiating work orders and ensuring the work is performed in a safe manner.
  • Running daily maintenance planning and coordination meetings to help prioritize scheduled work.
  • Providing technical assistance and creative thinking during planning and coordination meetings to deliver cost-effective solutions to mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ensuring that downtime preventive maintenance programs or permanent mechanical equipment modifications are put in place to address the root causes of downtime and quality issues.
  • Providing leadership with the implementation of problem-solving strategies and execution of key performance objectives in the department.
  • Mentoring and coaching maintenance personnel on fundamentals, skill development, scheduling, and all aspects of maintenance.
  • Assisting workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment when needed.
  • Studying production schedules and estimating hourly work requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Interpreting specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigning duties.
  • Establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggesting changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
  • Analyzing and resolving work problems or assisting workers in solving work problems.
  • Contacting manufacturers to get information needed to diagnose problems and/or secure parts.
  • Managing outside contractors, scheduling, training, contracts, insurance certificate and follow-up.
  • Initiating or suggesting plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Overseeing technical support and training for all manufacturing equipment.
  • Writing procedures for employees on various jobs and equipment, and training as necessary.
  • Providing leadership in developing teams, succession planning and advanced training programs for West maintenance team members.
  • Performing and overseeing the overall operation, maintenance, repair, construction, and property management of the buildings and associated grounds.
  • Being involved with the installation and training on new equipment.
  • Observing work being performed by maintenance, engineers and contractors to ensure quality, timelines and maintenance goals are met.
  • Comprehending electrical wiring diagrams and their logic, pneumatic drawings, and other facilities technical information.
  • Actively participating and complying with all West HSE programs and regulations.
  • Maintaining a neat and orderly work environment in accordance with West 6S program.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Automation or Industrial Engineering or 5+ years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in automation background.
  • Related experience in diagnosing and maintaining injection molding and injection blow molding machines and technical management is a plus.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • Familiarity with computers and various software programs.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Master Control or similar systems and databases is a plus.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to prioritize and assign resources in a fast-moving environment.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently with little direction, and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to manage several projects at once to meet established timelines.
