Requirements

  • Previous experience managing and supervising maintenance and production employees at an aggregate, sand/gravel, or asphalt plant operation is preferred.
  • Technical skills in all areas of maintenance are required.
  • Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of mobile and plant equipment, MSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and project management skills.
  • Must be an excellent motivator and team builder.
  • Knowledge and experience leading financial performance to established targets.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site equipment maintenance evaluations with maintenance teams to identify maintenance practices needing improvement.
  • Provide technical on-the-job training for maintenance personnel to improve skills, maintenance, and repair best practices.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Central Services, and Engineering personnel for scheduled maintenance and equipment repairs, as well as capital projects.
  • Provide leadership for Safety, Health, and Environmental issues.
  • Develop and improve equipment support and service to operations.
  • Manage and analyze the maintenance department's budgeting and monthly costs.
  • Contingency planning to include maintaining critical spares where plausible.
  • Promote Safety and ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and comply with all Vulcan policies and procedures.
  • Plan and schedule the daily maintenance functions in coordination with plant operations.
  • Provide strong leadership, training, team building, and supervision to all maintenance employees.
  • Work cross-functionally with HR to recruit new employees, provide merit increases, perform disciplinary actions, and evaluate the performance of employees.
  • Analyze production in coordination with operations and quality control to ensure customers receive a quality product.
  • Implement and monitor a preventive maintenance program to limit work stoppages, downtime, or other disruptions.
  • Build a strong safety culture to ensure compliance with safety, operations, and environmental policies.
  • Manage the organization of employees' work in the daily inspection and maintenance of the plant.
