About The Position

The position involves ensuring the routine operation of the department/area by evaluating efficiencies, line speeds, and the placement and rotation of team members. The role requires effective collaboration with USDA to resolve issues, coordination of product quality with QA, and participation in pre-operative inspections. Additionally, the position includes training and certifying new and existing staff on Production, USDA, HACCP, and OSHA guidelines. The individual will work with interfacing departments to ensure adequate product, service, and information is provided, and will also address team member issues in collaboration with HR. Troubleshooting mechanical issues, conducting staff performance evaluations, and monitoring timecards in Kronos Timekeeper are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge of protein manufacturing processes, preferably in poultry industry
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of the machinery and processes used in the plant department
  • Ability to multi-task in an effective manner
  • Ability to collect data, prepare and interpret production reports
  • Ability to communicate with and manage large groups of team members
  • Ability to respond quickly and sensibly to volatile situations or people and take corrective actions
  • Working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets
  • Strong communication skills
  • High school or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish/Creole are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the routine operation of the department/area by evaluating efficiencies, line speeds, placement and rotation of team members
  • Work effectively with USDA and attempt to resolve issues as they arise
  • Coordinate all product quality with QA
  • Participate in pre-operative inspections conducted by QA
  • Train and certify new and existing staff regarding Production, USDA, HACCP, and OSHA guidelines as appropriate
  • Work with other interfacing departments to ensure adequate product, service and/or information is provided
  • Work with HR to address and resolve team member issues on hiring, attendance, employment termination, and contractual and disciplinary issues
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues when possible
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations
  • Monitor, adjust and approve timecards daily in Kronos Timekeeper
  • Perform related duties as required
