About The Position
The Maintenance Supervisor: Mechanical at Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RF) (Pty) Ltd in Wellington is a pivotal role responsible for coordinating all maintenance activities within the Mechanical Workshop. This position requires a strong leader who can manage personnel effectively while ensuring compliance with all operational standards and procedures. The primary purpose of the job is to ensure plant availability and to guarantee that all mechanical maintenance spares are accessible within a reasonable timeframe. The supervisor will support plant management in mechanical problem-solving and will conduct necessary risk assessments for all mechanical maintenance tasks. In addition to overseeing daily operations, the Maintenance Supervisor will manage the budget effectively, focusing on cost-saving measures. This role involves supervising the day-to-day activities of employees, conducting visual inspections of work, and performing on-the-job risk assessments. The supervisor will coordinate and monitor schedules with plant managers and implement and monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics to identify bottlenecks and enhance plant and equipment performance. Furthermore, the supervisor will develop and implement a strategic plan for the next 1-3 years aimed at upgrading plants and processes, including modifications and the introduction of new technology and equipment. Technical investigations into maintenance problem areas will also be a key responsibility of this role.
