Performs advanced supervisory maintenance work in farm shop operations. Work involves overseeing maintenance staff involved in the installation, care, and repair of state facilities and equipment; and supervising the work of others. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This role also oversees and participates in the implementation and maintenance of the preventive maintenance program for farm equipment, heavy equipment, automobiles, and trucks. It includes participating in an audit program for internal control, overseeing repair and fabrication of machinery, and providing technical assistance. The supervisor prepares budget requests, approves requisitions, manages inventories, estimates project resources, maintains records, and ensures safety practices. They also supervise employees and inmates in maintenance and repair tasks, and assist in maintaining inmate security.
