This position supervises and coordinates the activities of skilled trade workers involved in maintaining and repairing equipment, structures, utility systems, buildings, and grounds. The supervisor directs workers in various projects including major painting, structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings, and the maintenance and repair of building utility systems like electrical wiring, controls, heating, and ventilating systems. The role also involves overseeing the installation, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment, and ensuring plant equipment, buildings, and facilities are maintained, repaired, and serviced to meet organizational standards and minimize downtime. The supervisor is responsible for inspecting completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards, preparing work schedules, making work assignments, interpreting and enforcing company policy, and resolving work problems. Additionally, the role includes working on construction projects for new buildings and facilities, as well as alterations or modifications to existing ones. The supervisor requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies, establishes and maintains preventive maintenance programs, and administers training programs for proper operations, preventive maintenance, and repair. The role may also involve directing ground maintenance activities and supervising custodial services.
