About the position

As a maintenance supervisor at Starbucks, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Roasting Plants. You will model leadership behaviors that align with Starbucks Mission and Values, driving the engagement, development, and performance of your team. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with organizational policies, communicating maintenance plans across departments, and serving as a technical expert and resource for plant maintenance partners. You will coordinate and oversee the maintenance of manufacturing and distribution equipment, create a collaborative work environment, and support partner development and satisfaction. Additionally, you will operate within established budgets and support the implementation of cost, quality, and service improvement initiatives. Safety is paramount, and you will work with the plant safety committee to ensure best practices are followed while maintaining product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices and food safety standards.

  • Support partners in presenting ideas for improving the efficiency and productivity of operations.
  • Operate within established budgets, forecasts, cost objectives and service levels to control expenses.
  • Support implementation of cost, quality and service improvement initiatives.
  • Support all established plant and manufacturing goals and objectives.
  • Apprise manager of team progress and any obstacles.
  • Understand and follow established safety guidelines, programs and procedures; and actively work to prevent safety incidents.
  • Work with plant safety committee to ensure best safety and maintenance practices are followed.
  • Support food safety, legality and quality programs.
  • Maintain product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures.
  • Perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values.

Requirements

  • Supervision experience supporting maintenance or operations (3 years)
  • Automated manufacturing or distribution environment (5 years)
  • High school diploma/GED, US military service or equivalent
  • Team-building skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to provide technical leadership
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting methodology
  • Ability to coach and mentor others
  • Ability to build relationships and work cross-functionally
  • Ability to communicate technical and operational issues clearly and concisely
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work with a diverse team environment
  • Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies and procedures
  • Ability to work variable shifts to support business needs

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience working in a technical field, mechanical, electrical, or engineering (Strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (21 CFR 117) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)
  • Experience with BRC or SQF certification schemes (Preferred)
