About The Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises staff and inmates assigned to general maintenance of physical plant; plans, schedules and coordinates maintenance and/or new construction activity Evaluates maintenance needs and determines best method of repair or installation; outlines and directs a preventive maintenance program Assists in preparation of budget estimates; maintains records and conducts correspondence related to work; maintains special security for all tools, equipment, chemicals, etc. which may be used as weapons. Assigns, supervises and evaluates work of employees and inmates; directs inmate apprenticeship training program in occupational areas; submits performance reports on employees and inmates Submits performance reports on employees and detainees; maintains discipline and enforces security measures Performs related duties as required

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED
  • Two years full-time, wage-earning experience in the supervision of employees
  • Knowledge of procedures, methods, and standards for general maintenance and construction
  • Skill to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others
  • Continuous sitting up to 2 hours per shift
  • Ability to work continuously on a telephone/computer/scanner/fax/copier or other office equipment for up to 2 hours or more per shift with scheduled breaks
  • Ability to work continuously on the following machines (but not limited to) test instruments, vacuum pumps, sewer clean out machine, table saw, radial arm saw, power saws, grinders, rotary hammer, hammers, wrenches, screw drivers, pliers, assorted hand tools, laundry and food service equipment, and automobiles.
  • Frequent periods of walking and/or standing
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Frequent grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting
  • M-F, On-call one weekend a month
