About The Position

Union Electric Steel Corporation is seeking a MAINTENANC SUPERINTENDENT E for our Carnegie, PA manufacturing plant. Job Summary Manages all aspects of Maintenance and Labor Department activities, including workflow scheduling and personnel. Maintains effective quality procedures and ensures a safe and efficient working environment.

Requirements

  • AA Degree, preferably in technology or related discipline; BS Degree in engineering or related field preferred
  • 4-6 years production/manufacturing supervisory experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize projects
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • Ability to interpret and schedule according to union contract guidelines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot equipment issues, determine root causes and develop short and long term corrective actions to prevent future failures.
  • Independent judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office products to organize and communicate
  • Proven leadership and motivational abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Strong CNC control system knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes maintenance schedules, weekly personnel schedules, and labor requirements to achieve plant goals and objectives.
  • Reviews and analyzes production and maintenance history reports to identify operating concerns, determine equipment maintenance trends, and develop improved maintenance methods to increase efficiency and reduce downtime and equipment failures.
  • Responsible for selection and mentoring of front line supervisory staff.
  • Determines critical repair parts requirements in order to maintain necessary inventory levels for productivity.
  • Ensures adherence to/compliance with company policies, rules and regulations relating to safety/health, operating procedures, processes, and training requirements.
  • Maintains maintenance and calibration records to meet ISO Standards.
  • Collaborates with plant management, engineering and purchasing to identify, develop and execute major capital/maintenance projects.
  • Acts as a liaison with union and union employees to establish and retain positive union relations.
  • Schedules and implements necessary employee training.
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Directly supervises 1-15 employees; monitors work quality, including conducting performance appraisals and providing counseling for improved performance.
  • Recruits and selects department personnel, with assistance from Human Resources staff.
