SUMMARY: The Maintenance Superintendent is primarily responsible for daily scheduled maintenance activity. The Maintenance Superintendent will work closely with manufacturing partners and report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of general maintenance or mechanical experience.
  • Manufacturing experience is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Proven track record of focusing on safety, quality, production, and environmental matters.
  • Superior communication (verbal & written), ability to motivate, prioritize, and organize in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong supervisory skills and leadership skills.

  • Must possess a sense of urgency which transfers to performing line duties as needed to aid the production team in maintaining their efficiencies and keeping the lines operating.
  • Working knowledge of SAP CMMS System is preferred to prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends after completing all work instructions and forms relating to maintenance, safety and preventive maintenance, keep paperwork neat and report any nonconformance in operation and make recommendations for corrective and preventive actions to Break-in Maintenance supervisor, Maintenance Manager or Planner on need to order parts.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, ultrasound , laser alignment, etc.) preferred.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations for acceptable housekeeping standard in work area and shop.
  • Knowledge of operation, maintenance, repair to include but not limited to reading blueprints , schematic drawings and manuals, maintain, troubleshoot, check, adjust, install and repair existing plant equipment and mechanical system in the plant, (Includes pumps, valves, process lines, etc.) also recommend changes to existing equipment, piping, or systems in order to improve plant safety at the site according to maintenance procedures and manufacturers recommendations using drawings, manuals, blueprints, and P&ID diagrams.
  • Ability to repair or replace along with installing various piping systems and valves, including threaded, flanged, welded, glued and compression
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses. steel toe shoes, hardhat, gloves, respirator and work in extreme heat and humidity along with working at heights and in dangerous places within close proximity to heavy machinery, as well as outdoors in all weather conditions, stand, and walk, climb stairs and ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, and other scheduled work days as the plant requires.
  • Work hours as assigned: be available for emergency call in when required.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the execution of jobs according to the daily work schedule and assign jobs in a manner to maximize maintenance personnel productivity. Make sure that the maintenance personnel know the safety, how, what, when and where of the assigned job.
  • Responsible for the Maintenance Supervisors, planners, schedulers, contract foreman and their performance and time.
  • Prioritizes and coordinates the work of all maintenance personnel to eliminate delays. Look ahead to avoid bottlenecks to prevent delays caused by maintenance personnel waiting for operations, permitting, electrical lockout, or materials.
  • Tracks the progress of all jobs and performance of the scheduled maintenance group. Collecting and analyzing KPIs to improve the cost per ton of the scheduled work.
  • Ensure that all safety, hot work, line break and vessel entry permits are filled out correctly and inspect the job to determine that work is safe to proceed prior to signing off on permit.
  • Follows up on jobs to determine progress and status of the Break-In jobs and scheduled work when there are no Break-In jobs.
  • While in the plant providing support the following should be applied: Know the performance of the crafts people and aid them in meeting the requirements of the daily work schedule. Correct improper work methods and hold errors to a minimum.
  • Reassignment of crafts people as work orders are completed.
  • Assure that all tools, materials and special equipment are being used effectively.
  • Make sure that good safety and housekeeping practices are being observed.
  • Keep the work order progress moving and assuring the following: The scheduled work is done correctly.
  • The methods and precautions called for on all work orders are being followed.
  • The proper information is entered on the completed work order, inspection checklists, and/or shift report.
  • The repaired or maintained equipment operates properly after the work is completed and turned over to operations (e.g. check for rotation, loop test, etc.)
  • All materials taken from the store room are checked out and documented and leftover materials are returned to stores and the jobsite is left clean.
  • Uses initiative to seek out remedies for equipment malfunctions and brings these to the attention of the Maintenance Staff.
  • Informs Maintenance Staff concerning matters of equipment abuse or mistreatment.
  • Works closely with Maintenance Staff on preventive or predictive maintenance.
  • Review with Maintenance Staff the causes of major repairs in order to reduce maintenance downtime and cost.
  • Recommends spare parts and inventory control levels for maintenance and repair materials.
