About The Position

Camp Mendocino is a residential summer camp located in Northern California, four hours north of San Francisco and spread over 2,000 acres. We provide transportation between San Francisco and Camp at the start and end of the summer. All Camp employees are expected to live, sleep and work at Camp. As a program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF), we are dedicated to providing children and teens with safe, fun places to learn and grow, with professional staff to offer support and guidance, serving as caring mentors and role models. Position Purpose The Maintenance Staff assist the Camp Caretaker to maintain Camp facilities, including grounds-keeping, painting, carpentry, laundry, dining hall cleanup, dish washing, chopping wood, plumbing, trash removal and recycling and general facilities upkeep.

Requirements

• Experience in general handy work
• Basic understanding of working with tools
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to work in a team
• Good communication skills a must
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Must be able to walk on uneven terrain for at least 3 miles
• Must be able to stand for 8 hours (with breaks)
• Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 30° to 100°

Nice To Haves

• Plumbing experience
• Basic electrical experience
• Basic woodworking skills
• Basic vehicle maintenance
• Ability to work with youth in a positive manner

Responsibilities

• Provides support to all areas and departments at Camp
• Dishwashing
• Trash pick up and disposal
• Keeping Camp clean and safe for all campers
• Laundry as needed
• Performs repairs and maintains functioning equipment
• Painting, light carpentry, basic plumbing, chopping wood
• Landscaping
• Other duties as assigned
