Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment, including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment.
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electrical equipment.
  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA.
  • Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  • Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.
  • Assists maintenance personnel with technical level employees.
  • Properly and accurately, complete all required records keeping, ordering and other necessary paperwork.
  • Proper use and adherence to Lockout/Tagout Procedures.
  • Must follow precise instructions and directions.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
  • Practice good housekeeping.
  • Obey all safety rules, regulations, and policies.

Requirements

  • Must be electrical safety trained.
  • Must be electrically qualified to work on 50 volts to 480vac.
  • Must be able to voltage test high amp circuits.
  • Must be able to use volt, amp, ohm, and megger testing equipment.
  • Must understand ohms law and other electrical formulas.
  • Must be competent with computers.
  • Must be familiar with PLC and VFD programming and commissioning.
  • Must be able to read and understand wire schedules for electrical motors, open loop, closed loop, stepper, and servo.
  • Conduit bending is a plus.
  • Must be able to read and understand reference materials (Ugly’s, wire/conduit sliders, etc.)
  • Pre-Press maintenance training is required.
  • Rotary Die maintenance is required.
  • Must be trained on extruder/thermoformer/Trimpress maintenance and tooling changes.
  • Must work around hot environments and equipment.
  • Must be willing to return to work in off hours.
  • Must be familiar with email programs, word processing, and excel sheets to communicate with supervisor/manager and vendors.
  • Must have good communication skills.

  • Deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
