About The Position

The Maintenance Specialist supports the overall maintenance activities of the plant to safely achieve maximum availability and reliability of the generating units. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing maintenance strategies that optimize plant performance, efficiency, and compliance with all safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements. As a key member of the maintenance team, the Maintenance Specialist will serve as the system owner for designated plant systems, ensuring the integrity, reliability, and performance of assigned equipment and processes. This position also provides technical expertise and input to the Plant Leadership Team regarding potential improvements to work methods, maintenance processes, or equipment that contribute to the success and continuous improvement of plant operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 or more years of experience in Operations and/or Maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures related to safety, operations, compliance, equipment operations, timekeeping, and payroll.
  • Ability to cooperate effectively with other departments and supervisors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform System Ownership duties, ensuring assigned systems meet reliability and performance expectations.
  • Knowledgeable of environmental, safety, and OSHA regulations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current Lockout/Tagout clearance procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate current and future operating conditions and trends to optimize maintenance strategy.
  • Proven experience in Contractor Compliance Management.
  • Ability to develop scopes for packages and job plans to support maintenance and outage activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Recently demonstrated leadership experience preferred. Leadership may include outage coordination, substitution, or formal leadership roles on special projects or teams.
  • Technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance and reliability within a power generation or industrial plant environment.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management systems and reliability tools.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to coordinate across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day maintenance of all power plant equipment to maximize plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Serve as the system owner for assigned plant systems, maintaining comprehensive knowledge of system design, operation, and maintenance requirements.
  • Keep the Plant Manager, departmental managers, and team leaders informed of equipment conditions that have or could have an impact on plant operations.
  • Develop, support, and execute maintenance strategies and long-term reliability improvement plans.
  • Manage contracts with vendors for materials and services, ensuring contractor compliance with safety and performance standards.
  • Support outage scope development, planning, and scheduling processes.
  • Develop scopes for work packages and detailed job plans.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and reliability teams to identify and implement process and equipment improvements.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including OSHA requirements.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for equipment and system failures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system performance, maintenance history, and improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing plant reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
