About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a skilled, highly motivated person to perform building intermediate-level facility maintenance activities. This position will focus primarily on HVAC and Environmental Controls, programming, commissioning, maintenance, and repair. You will be joining a professional building maintenance team located in the headquarters of NDOT. Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, HVAC, welding, or other maintenance/construction trade, and one year of experience in building maintenance or a mechanical trade. Experience may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
  • OR An Associate degree or equivalent vocational education in HVAC, and one year of experience servicing/maintaining/repairing HVAC systems. Experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
  • Extensive knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of large HVAC systems in office buildings.
  • Knowledge of all construction trades.
  • Understand Facilities Maintenance practices, tools, equipment, materials, and procedures.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to assist the Manager with project estimates, submit material lists, track costs, order materials, schedule deliveries, and maintain records.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in operating METASYS building automation system.
  • Knowledge of Occupational and safety precautions of the building and mechanical trades.
  • Experience in any Building Automation Software and Hardware.
  • Experience in programming, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC components in commercial buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Under limited supervision, independently performs highly skilled and complex diagnostics of building automation systems (METASYS).
  • Perform preventative maintenance on a wide range of HVAC equipment, including filter replacement, bearing lubrication, and belt replacement.
  • Maintain equipment and parts inventory to ensure equipment remains functional as much as possible with minimal downtime.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of emergency generators, underground fuel tanks, and associated records.
