The position is responsible for performing semi-skilled or skilled tasks in the repair of streets, alleys, basins, and channels. The role involves routine maintenance and construction on various infrastructure elements, including streets, alleys, right of ways, and drainage channels. The employee will be engaged in tasks such as patching streets and alleys with hot mix or cold mix asphalt, crack sealing, cleaning inlets, maintaining flow lines in channels, picking up litter, mowing and trimming weeds, setting storm sewer pipes for drainage improvement projects, and assisting in storm water pump maintenance. Additionally, the employee will perform daily preventative maintenance of motorized equipment or hand tools, attend monthly safety meetings, maintain tools and equipment in good and safe operating condition, and keep the job site and vehicles/equipment neat and in order. The role also includes performing pre-trip/post-trip vehicle/equipment inspections, maintaining records of work performed, assisting with work zone traffic control setup, fulfilling on-call duties, and assisting with the maintenance of Transportation's building and grounds. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.
