About The Position

The Maintenance Spares and Inventory Planner is responsible for managing spare parts and inventory within a manufacturing environment. This role involves conducting routine equipment reviews, developing and maintaining spare parts lists, optimizing inventory management, and ensuring accurate asset-part relationship data. The planner will coordinate procurement activities, manage supplier relationships, oversee spare parts crib operations, and ensure inventory accuracy through regular audits. Additionally, the planner will track component lifecycles, handle returns and replacements, and support networked inventory visibility. The position also requires maintaining accurate records in CMMS systems and assisting with maintenance planning and reliability efforts. Continuous improvement initiatives and promoting a compliance culture are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in spare parts management, maintenance support, or supply chain within a manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in CMMS/SAP systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with shared databases or part tracking tools is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine compliance with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management and material flow.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and production processes, raw materials, quality control, and costs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving/analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other employees.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong reading, writing and math skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently, with little direction, and effectively with teams.
  • Strong organization, planning and follow up skills.
  • Strong PC knowledge and the ability to efficiently operate computer terminals and barcode scanning devices.

  • Ability to obtain appropriate power vehicle license (Flatbed, Hi-Lo, etc.) when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Routine Equipment Reviews by regularly inspecting production equipment on the floor to identify and document critical and recommended spare parts.
  • Develops and Maintains Spare Parts Lists by collaborating with maintenance technicians, engineers, and OEMs to build and update asset-specific parts lists and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Optimizes Inventory Management by establishing and maintaining min/max levels and reorder points in SAP/CMMS based on usage trends, lead times, and criticality.
  • Maintains Asset-Part Relationship Data by managing a comprehensive database linking parts to assets to improve troubleshooting, uptime, and maintenance responsiveness.
  • Standardizes Spare Part Information by ensuring consistent part naming, categorization, and documentation across locations for better visibility and alignment.
  • Coordinates Procurement Activities by partnering with purchasing to source new, rebuilt, and service exchange parts, balancing quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
  • Manages Supplier and OEM Relationships by developing and sustaining strong supplier networks to ensure timely delivery, coordinated rebuilds, and lifecycle tracking.
  • Oversees Spare Parts Crib Operations by ensuring the cleanliness, organization, security, and accessibility of the maintenance and facilities crib.
  • Ensures Inventory Accuracy by conducting regular cycle counts, audits, and reconciliations to maintain accurate stock levels and reporting.
  • Tracks Component Lifecycles and Warranties by monitoring parts for overhaul or rebuilding needs and managing warranty claims for damaged or expired items.
  • Handles Returns and Replacements by coordinating with vendors and OEMs to manage part returns, replacements, and related documentation.
  • Supports Networked Inventory Visibility by contributing to the development and maintenance of a centralized system for spare parts tracking and access.
  • Maintains Accurate CMMS Records by ensuring equipment and spare parts data are accurately maintained in systems such as SAP, Maximo, or equivalent.
  • Assists Maintenance Planning and Reliability by supporting job planning by kitting parts, ensuring readiness for unplanned repairs, and participating in root cause investigations.
  • Drives Continuous Improvement Initiatives by leading or supporting lean projects, 5S efforts, and other initiatives aimed at improving spare parts operations and crib efficiency.
  • Promotes a compliance culture in area of responsibility and lives the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct.
