About The Position

At Apex International, we take pride in our commitment to manufacturing high-quality OTC, personal care, and household products. We strive to build collaborative partnerships with a diverse range of customers, including global Fortune 100 companies and entrepreneurial start-ups. We seek highly skilled Maintenance and Set-up Technicians as we start our weekend production shift at our Eden Prairie location. Our current shifts are as follows: 1st Shift: 6 AM through 6 PM Friday through Sunday; 2nd Shift: 6 PM through 6 AM Friday through Sunday. These positions will be full-time, hourly employee positions of Apex International. The Maintenance and Set Up Technician will lead the setup and maintenance of equipment to reduce unplanned downtime. This includes managing the set up and sanitation of production lines and installing, repairing, and maintaining equipment.

Requirements

  • Possess or obtain within 6 months of date of hire a MN Special Boiler Operator license.
  • Prefer 1-2 years Vo-tech or equivalent in an associated field (mechanics, auto repair, machine repair, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Facility Management is considered an advantage.
  • A solid understanding of the technical aspects of mechanical and electrical systems, including PLCs, HVAC, boilers, plumbing, etc.
  • Experience in planning maintenance operations, ensuring efficient and timely execution of tasks.
  • Working knowledge of facility machines and equipment, enabling them to effectively manage and maintain these assets.
  • Experience in utilizing a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to streamline and track maintenance activities.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities, enabling them to effectively prioritize tasks and manage resources.
  • Ability to conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to LOTO (lock out, tag out) procedures.
  • Ensure that all activities follow applicable health and safety policies.
  • Ability to interact with contractors and team members on safety protocols and best practices.
  • Perform duties in a manner that supports company quality processes and procedures.
  • Maximize production line and equipment up-time by ensuring that preventative and corrective maintenance activities are carried out effectively.
  • Ensure that the daily setup and changeover schedules are met, and take appropriate action if schedules are not being adhered to.
  • Conduct changeovers and equipment startups efficiently, aiming to meet or exceed changeover standards.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Scheduling teams to ensure timely changeovers, avoiding simultaneous core line changeovers whenever possible.
  • Update and maintain accurate setup sheets, guiding best practices.
  • Monitor equipment inventory and initiate orders for necessary supplies.
  • File maintenance logs and provide regular reports on daily activities.
  • Assist contracted third-party personnel in the performance of their duties.
  • Prior experience in contractor support, specifically in HVAC and building projects.
  • Utilize Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to minimize the risk of equipment failure and maximize productivity.
  • Conduct research to identify new and advanced equipment that can serve as better alternatives for the replacement or upgrade of worn-out machines.
  • Perform regular inspections and risk assessments of building facilities, infrastructure, and utilities to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Conduct periodic maintenance and routine calibration of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic systems, and other relevant systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with team members, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented approach to reviewing project plans and documentation, identifying potential safety hazards and mitigating risks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
