The Maintenance Services Worker performs technical and physically labor-intensive tasks in support of the Public Works Maintenance division. This role involves working both independently and as part of a team, with tasks completed under general guidelines that require some independent judgment. The worker contributes to the City's vision, mission, and goals through the performance of all job duties. This classification is part of a series, and incumbents may also perform duties at the entry and/or intermediate level. The position offers a flexible schedule, with options for 9/80 and 4/10 workweeks, and includes various allowances and benefits. The Maintenance Services Worker 2 is responsible for general grounds maintenance duties, which include mowing, edging, weeding, planting, and pruning, as well as applying specialized chemicals to control and eradicate weeds, insects, and other pests. The worker will also remove litter and debris from roadways and facilities, assist in the excavation and rechanneling of ditches, and load and unload materials from trucks. Additionally, the worker will maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies on vehicles, operate a variety of heavy and light equipment, and assist in maintaining vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe working condition. The Maintenance Services Worker 3 performs a variety of specialized duties in the construction, maintenance, and repair of City streets, water distribution, surface water, and wastewater facilities and systems. This includes reading maps and blueprints to locate city-owned infrastructure, directing cleanup crews, and operating various equipment and tools. The worker will also input data for records, inspect facilities for maintenance needs, and respond to customer complaints and inquiries. The role requires a strong commitment to safety and the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required.
