About The Position

The Maintenance Services Electronic Technician III provides solutions for a wide variety of moderately complex issues. Responsible for setting up, checking, and correcting operational and experimental machinery, circuitry, and equipment while following pre-established guidelines, procedures, and engineering specifications.   Work includes system modifications, reconfigurations, and corrective & preventive maintenance through the implementation of work package instructions or established processes. Typical equipment supported includes computational, data & voice communication, and visual display and switching systems in the Mission Control Center (MCC), Mission Training Center (MTC) and the Space Vehicle Mockup facility (SVMF). Works under limited supervision with guidance from project leads and management. Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with large projects and programmatic objectives.   This position may assist in the supervision of less senior individuals. May also participate in system design reviews, system analyses, work planning, and the initiation, review and revision of procedures.

Requirements

  • This position typically requires a minimum high school degree or equivalent and 8 years of related technical experience.
  • The applicant should have work experience or familiarity with the following: Microsoft Office, Windows, Linux, Voice and Video over IP, Networking Servers, Switches, Routers, Hubs, Firewalls, LAN and WAN.
  • Strong written and verbal skills are desired.
  • Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
  • Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
  • Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Perm Resident

Responsibilities

  • Significant systems and equipment installations and modifications along with corrective and preventive maintenance activities for audio, video, data communications, and network and computing systems.
  • Duties include reconfiguration, set up and validation testing of communication equipment, visual system displays, and crew suit breathing air systems.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and pull cabling, occasional work in confined spaces, work from ladders or platforms, and on rare occasions, wearing personal protective clothing and respirators for work around asbestos.
  • Candidate will be subjected to an initial drug screening and random tests thereafter.
  • Candidate will be trained and then must demonstrate the ability to solder, fabricate or repair copper and fiber optic cabling per NASA’s Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) Workmanship Standards and adhere to Electrostatic Sensitive Devices (ESD) protocol.
