Maintenance Service Supervisor
About The Position
Are you a natural team leader who thrives on getting people organized, motivated, and aligned with work goals? We’re looking for a Shift Supervisor with the ability and aptitude to lead our evening shift with confidence and clarity. In this role, your ability to coach individuals, follow through on performance expectations, and ensure work orders are completed according to operational priorities will be key to your success. Prior diesel or heavy equipment experience is a plus, but not required! Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM, Monday–Friday Team: 12 Technicians, 6 Handlers/Fuelers Fleet: Gillig Diesel & Battery-Electric Buses
Requirements
- Collaborative growth mindset and a passion for leading & coaching
- Comfortable with computer systems (Excel, etc.)
- 1-3 years of supervisory or team lead experience (union experience is a plus!)
- Safe driver record, and willing to get CDL with endorsements
Nice To Haves
- 3 years of heavy equipment or diesel maintenance experience
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines, drive trains, brakes, hydraulics, and electronic diagnostics
Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of mechanics and apprentices performing fleet vehicle maintenance
- Assign and prioritize repair & maintenance tasks according to management priorities
- Ensure compliance with NYS & federal transit maintenance regulations (we'll train you!)
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, inspections, service hours, and inventory
- Collaborate with the Parts Coordinator to keep our shop running smoothly
