About The Position

Do you enjoy working outdoors and on the water? Are you confident handling boats, helping maintain riverbanks, and keeping our parks safe and clean? Do you thrive in a team environment while taking initiative on your own? What You'll Do Operate work boats and assist with river and bank cleanup, removing debris, logs, and invasive vegetation Support dock maintenance and assist with volunteer and park events Work alongside various parks maintenance crews on general grounds and litter removal Operate and maintain equipment safely while following City and Utility safety rules Maintain work records and reports, and collaborate effectively with coworkers and the public What You Bring At least 18 years old and completed three years of high school Previous boating experience preferred Ability to operate trucks and small utility vehicles Strong communication skills and ability to follow oral/written instructions Works independently and in teams, with a focus on safety and professionalism Why Work for the City of Fort Wayne Hands-on experience in river and riparian maintenance, flexible seasonal hours, and a chance to make a visible impact on public spaces and waterways. Requirements

  • At least 18 years old and completed three years of high school
  • Ability to operate trucks and small utility vehicles
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow oral/written instructions
  • Works independently and in teams, with a focus on safety and professionalism
  • Valid Indiana Driver's License (if using City vehicle)
  • Successful completion of Official Indiana Boating Safety Course

Nice To Haves

  • Previous boating experience preferred
