About The Position

This is skilled trades work assembling, installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing structures, equipment, finishes and accessories across all maintenance trades. OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION This position is considered an essential personnel position and must be available to respond to campus emergencies after hours and during campus closures. The employee may be assigned to the emergency team that remains on campus and or evacuates to an off-site location during emergency events. This position may be placed on the On-Call rotation. Must have a current driver’s license.

Requirements

Knowledge of general maintenance trades techniques, methods and procedures.
Skill in performing general maintenance trades functions.
Ability to complete general maintenance trades duties and responsibilities.
Ability to direct employees to perform assigned tasks.
Ability to use hand toos and power tools and equipment properly.
Ability to read and clearly understand blueprints.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to carry, erect, climb, and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; work off of roofs, cat walks, and other elevated areas.
Ability to carry or otherwise move loads of 50 pounds or more (pipe, wire, tool boxes, etc.).
Ability to understand and apply University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges.
Visual ability, corrected, to observe people and/or vehicles moving through the work area in order to redirect work or equipment to avoid injuries to the people or damage to the vehicles.
Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
