About The Position

The Office of State Parks (OSP) serves the citizens of Louisiana and visitors by preserving and interpreting natural areas of unique or exceptional scenic value, planning, developing and operating sites that provide outdoor recreation opportunities in natural surroundings, preserving and interpreting historical and scientific sites of statewide importance and administering intergovernmental programs related to outdoor recreation and trails. The purpose of this position is to make repairs to and maintain buildings, facilities and equipment of this site as well as to provide for the safety of facility guests.

Requirements

One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Responsibilities

Performs preventative and corrective maintenance of site's equipment including plumbing, wood repair, electrical, etc.
Makes general repairs to buildings' interiors and exteriors, fixtures, HVAC, painting, etc.
Maintains and operates large equipment vehicles & small equipment, such as utility vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, mowers, front loaders, weed eaters, blowers, pumps, tractors, chain saw, etc.
Assists with maintaining park grounds such as mowing grass, collecting litter, removing limbs and debris, maintenance, and emptying trash receptacles.
Performs routine painting, staining, and other beautification tasks.
Performs any and all custodial duties necessary to maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the facilities.
Provides a high level of customer service and assists customers with inquiries.
