Scope of job: Follows standard procedures and operating manuals to effect repair, maintenance, and diagnosis of mechanical problems in capital equipment and facilities. Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor Formal Education: High school or GED Responsibilities: Inspects equipment, tools and machinery for safety issues Requisitions parts and services Uses test equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose failures Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts, following specifications and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments and hand tools Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical failures: presses, equipment, plumbing, all vehicles (except expensive engine overhauls) Repairs tow motor, trucks, cranes, hoists Lays out and assembles new machines and equipment Carries tools and equipment to and from storage and working area Cleans machines with sandpaper, solvent and wiping rags to prepare surfaces for painting Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery using rags, brushes and grease gun Building Maintenance (toilets, light bulbs, sinks, ceiling tiles, some groundwork, etc.) Assist in training employees Effectively communicate with supervisor and co-workers on either shift
