About The Position

The Maintenance & Reliability Engineer position at Altec involves developing leadership skills necessary for technical oversight within a department. The role focuses on creating solutions in various areas such as design, development, testing, integration, manufacture, sales, service, quality assurance, and related processes essential in the production of Altec products. The engineer will direct some engineering decisions, operate with decision-making latitude, and apply fundamental engineering concepts and practices. Responsibilities include managing projects, implementing reliability-centered maintenance strategies, analyzing failure modes, leading maintenance programs, collaborating with teams, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• ABET EAC certified bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Master's degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of four (4) years' Altec full-time experience, 2 of which must be after earning the Degree in Engineering for internal candidates.
• Minimum four (4) years' experience in an engineering role after earning the Degree in Engineering for external candidates.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with team members and minimal supervision.
• Thorough understanding and ability in basic engineering practices and principles.
• Ability to interact effectively with associates, departments, operations, distributors, vendors, customers, etc.
• Basic understanding of business principles and practice.
• Confidence and success in working as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, potentially on short notice.
• 3+ years of experience in maintenance and reliability engineering within a manufacturing, industrial, or process environment.
• Strong knowledge of reliability tools such as FMEA, RCA, and RCM.
• Experience with predictive maintenance technologies and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Professional certifications such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct some engineering decisions for the department with guidance from manager and more experienced engineers.
• Operate with decision-making latitude within the scope of an assignment.
• Apply fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in the engineering field.
• Assign work to others as directed.
• Utilize Lean principles to improve products and processes.
• Manage various sizes of Altec projects and/or act as Team Lead.
• Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies to improve equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Analyze failure modes, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to eliminate repetitive equipment failures.
• Lead predictive and preventive maintenance programs, including vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication, and oil analysis.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Create and maintain equipment history, maintenance procedures, and technical documentation.
• Support capital projects by providing reliability and maintainability input into equipment design and selection.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability, maintenance costs, and asset utilization.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
