About The Position

Shaw Industries is seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician (Level IV or V, based on experience) to join our team at the Plant T1 facility in Adairsville, GA. This position is a full-time, second‑shift role, scheduled Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Position Objective: This position will Train and mentor reliability electricians at levels I-IV, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively. This position will have responsibility of signing off on DOSTool level 2 observations for Reliability Elec I-IV's. This sign off will verify that the technician has completed assigned activities and meets expectations. Involves design, installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems. The use of testing devices to troubleshoot electrical issues and inspect various electrical components. Maintain and upkeep equipment as assigned and participate in root cause analysis of machinery faults, identify the necessary steps to correct the faults, and make repairs and participate in finding solutions to eliminate future recurrence of the faults.

Requirements

  • National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Familiarity with the NEC, which is the standard for safe electrical installations aimed at protecting people and property from electrical hazards. Understanding of enforcement by state or local laws is crucial.
  • Human Machine Interface (HMI)
  • Ability to install HMI software on PCs, update revisions, and create data transfers between Controllers and HMIs.
  • Proficiency in setting up Controller and HMI tags for analog and discrete control, as well as making necessary screen changes for control or data analysis.
  • Process Controls
  • Demonstrated capability to set up process controls for flow, level, temperature, and pressure.
  • Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC)
  • Experience in modifying ladder logic programs to restore production, creating basic subroutines/blocks for control, and building blocks for automation expansion.
  • Proficiency in Function Block Diagrams, including modifications and building blocks for expansion.
  • Ability to write simple code in various programming languages such as Statement List (STL), Structured Control Language, and Structured Text (ST) for Siemens and Allen Bradley systems.
  • Robotics
  • Skill in making code changes in robot handheld devices.
  • Safety Circuits & Components
  • Ability to wire safety circuits of categories 1 through 4.
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
  • Experience in setting up and establishing communication between VFDs and controllers.
  • Basic math skills are essential
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs, sit, stand, or walk for most of the shift.
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying loads of up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Train and mentor reliability electricians at levels I-IV

  • Conduct general plant repairs across various areas (e.g., bathrooms, offices, breakrooms).
  • Ensure accuracy in CMMS work orders, documenting labor and materials used for upkeep and repairs.
  • Meet established goals to improve efficiency and reduce downtime, distinguishing between process and equipment-related downtime.
  • Provide training to other technicians as needed.
  • Complete DOSTool activities relevant to current pay level and higher levels as required.
  • Participate in identifying root causes of gaps and opportunities.
  • Participate in implementation of effective solutions to prevent reoccurrences of equipment issues.
