About The Position

This position will require supporting on-call support outside of regular working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Additionally, shift adjustments may be necessary to meet production demands.. General Summary Responsible for proper operation and maintenance of a variety of different types of hand and power tools associated with plumbing and pipe fitting. Supports manufacturing and facilities personnell by using skills and abilities to fabricate, modify and repair a wide variety of items with a wide variety of materials. Performs economically feasible repairs to the greatest extent possible with stocked or purchased parts and available tools.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, G.E.D. certificate or recognized equivalent.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient enough to perform the following: Communicate effectively with other team members and supervision Read and comprehend process instructions
  • Ability to read and interpret analog and digital gauges
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and CAD/CAM drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret written standards from equipment manufacturers
  • Minimum 5 years of verifiable experience in the industrial pipefitting/plumbing field OR A Journeyman's license with associated apprenticeship completion.
  • Basic understanding of fasteners and including their use, function, and installation as applicable.
  • Technical understanding of plumbing systems and components.
  • Ability to use pipe cutting, threading and bending equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic welding, brazing and soldering of pipes and metal fixtures.
  • Must satisfactorily pass a written comprehension test and mechanical aptitude evaluation.
  • Must own and maintain a complimentary set of hand tools sufficient to perform all duties presently required and must be willing to obtain replacement/additional hand tools as required.

Responsibilities

  • Works in a safe and orderly manner at all times.
  • Obeys plant, department and area rules and regulations and proactively encourages other team members to do so.
  • Obtains, maintains and wears or uses all necessary safety equipment as directed by work instructions or area supervisor.
  • Attends shift, department and plant meetings in a timely manner as directed by supervisor.
  • Constructs, installs, modifies and repairs all types of plumbing and fixtures including but not limited to potable water, drain, waste, vent, refrigeration, steam and gas.
  • Installs, repairs and maintains various hydraulic/pneumatic systems and checks and adjusts controls, gauges and valves to achieve proper flow control and/or pressure.
  • Works from blueprints, CAD/CAM layouts, sketches, models and verbal instructions.
  • Maintains process integrity with proper documentation and observance of process records
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area at all times.
