The Planner supports execution of maintenance work through job planning, estimating, receiving, and coordinating parts and equipment for maintenance work orders. The planner ensures that the equipment, parts, materials, and special tools are ready and available when needed. The planner provides proper documentation of all work to be performed, so that proper evaluation and control of the maintenance function can be completed safely. This role involves interfacing effectively with all personnel levels, including operators, to assist with repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance coordination. The planner reviews work notifications/orders daily, discusses priorities with the Maintenance Manager, and maintains an updated daily schedule. They plan preventive and requested maintenance work according to priority and evaluate each work order to determine appropriate craft assignment. Pre-job walk downs are conducted to assess resources, estimate materials, crew size, and work duration, identifying special tools, procedures, and equipment requirements. Comprehensive job plan packages are prepared, including required information, drawings, safety analysis, SDS, PPE requirements, LO/TO procedures, and other necessary documentation. The planner maintains SAP-CMMS system integrity by updating coding structures, ensuring consistent status information, and managing system documentation. They evaluate planned scope against expected corrective solutions, consult with Management as needed, and identify vendor support requirements to include in work order packages. Reviewing and furnishing necessary engineering drawings and field sketches is also part of the role. The planner ensures kitted materials are delivered to the staging area prior to scheduled work commencement and verifies all permits and lockouts are in place. Ordering and requisitioning materials and supplies through vendors, contractors, and internal contacts is also a key function. Additionally, the planner conducts safety audits on machinery and teammates, maintains records, directs corrective actions, and maintains the job package library based on feedback, participating in the predictive/preventative maintenance process.
