Maintenance Planner

About The Position

Alcoa is seeking a Maintenance Planner to join our Planning & Scheduling Team at our Massena, NY location. In this role, you will support the planning and execution of maintenance activities, including preventive inspections and corrective work. In addition to maintaining accurate Bills of Material (BOMs), create standard activities (templated jobs with materials), and develop comprehensive work packs and instructions (e.g., permits, blueprints). You will apply our Reliability Excellence standard work management process and leverage its suite of tools through the proper utilization of EAM (Oracle CMMS System) and drive continuous improvement in planning and scheduling practices. Collaborate daily with Maintenance Supervisors, Process Maintenance Coordinators (PMCs), Materials Coordinators, and Expeditors to support planning, execution, and closure of maintenance work. Support efficient maintenance execution by ensuring proper resource leveling and that all labor, tools, parts, and equipment are organized and available in advance. Ensure adherence to materials management standards, including kitting and expediting. Confirm that all required spare parts are procured, located, and communicated before work begins, and that unused parts are returned post-activity. Track rebuildable items through the repairable system to maintain critical stock levels, including coordinating transport and communication across Maintenance, Operations, Materials, and Procurement. Apply Reliability Excellence tools and continuous improvement principles in EAM to reduce maintenance costs and improve equipment reliability. Provide vacation coverage for Material Planner and Asset Planner roles as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 -3 years of experience in Maintenance or Technical position.
  • Solid understanding of equipment and the ability to interpret engineering drawings is essential for success in this role.
  • Experience in maintenance planning (mechanical or electrical), preferably in a heavy manufacturing or utility environment.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints and create detailed work instruction packages.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, advanced problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Results-driven, adaptable, and resourceful in dynamic environments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage complex schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in HVAC, Construction and Electrical, preferred but not required.
