About The Position

We are seeking a Maintenance Planner who will be involved in the planning, scheduling, and coordinating routine and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment and facility uptime. This role also should anticipate potential maintenance problems, prepare cost estimates, secure necessary spare parts and have good communication between departments, such as manufacturing and maintenance. Areas of focus for this role will include (but not be limited to): Analyze equipment and systems to identify potential failure points and proactively plan to prevent them. Develop and implement detailed plans for all maintenance work, including routine, preventive, and emergency jobs. Gives instruction to the maintenance team regarding daily preventative maintenance tasks in a manner that does not conflict with other priority tasks as instructed by the Facilities Manager or Maintenance Leader. Assist and support Facilities Manager. Maintain maintenance history records, document work orders, and generate reports on maintenance activities. Prepare cost estimates for maintenance activities. Act as a liaison between maintenance, production and purchasing teams to ensure smooth workflow and manage competing priorities. Coordinate spare parts and alignment between the maintenance department and stockroom. Train employees on how to use the Computerized Maintenance Management System. Recognize opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementing them. Adjust schedules to account for emergency work. Notify Facilities Manager of any incorrect or abnormal conditions. Consult with the Facilities Manager regarding special activities or situations. Maintain clean equipment and work areas, following established procedures and techniques. Follow established safety procedures and informs Facilities Manager of any unsafe conditions. Follow all standard operating procedures relating to assigned areas. Lead/participate in and support Smithers-Oasis continuous improvement activities. Support and lead by example the Core Values of the organization. Understand the MOC (Management of Change) and PSM (Product Safety Management) requirements. Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; Degree/certification(s) in technical and/or maintenance related discipline preferred.
  • One to three years of experience working in a Maintenance Planner role or similar experience is preferred.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of various Maintenance System software is required.
  • High degree of care is always necessary in a manufacturing environment to prevent serious accidents.
  • Responsible for guiding the maintenance team, in accordance with the Facilities Manager.
  • Extended work hours are at times required with this position in order to perform all the functions properly.
  • Must be able to work autonomously in order to complete daily objectives/tasks.
