About The Position

The Maintenance Planner at Gates Corporation is responsible for the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities within the Galesburg, IL manufacturing plant. This role focuses on minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity by managing work priorities, developing job plans, and coordinating resources effectively. The Maintenance Planner will also provide guidance on improving preventive maintenance activities and ensure that all maintenance work is executed efficiently.

Requirements

  • 3 years of progressive planning/purchasing and/or maintenance experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Maintenance CMMS software, preferably Infor EAM.
  • General inventory control knowledge.
  • Effective time-management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong team player with the ability to support other team members and share knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with preventive maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Review all planned work requests from assigned areas and determine accuracy of information.
  • Engage appropriate resources to set a preliminary priority.
  • Schedule day-to-day planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Issue scheduled work orders to technicians and address any questions.
  • Ensure plant shutdowns/outages are planned accordingly.
  • Schedule parts, tools, and services orders according to production and maintenance schedules, and coordinate the delivery of parts, services, and equipment.
  • Gather quotes for parts and services.
  • Assist in vendor/contractor selection and act as a primary contact with vendors/contractors.
  • Work with accounting and receiving departments on invoices and receipts.
  • Compile downtime and other maintenance metric data for plant reporting.
  • Track IPP and general maintenance expenditures according to budget.
  • Control the inventory of assigned products/materials in accordance with management objectives.
  • Prepare work orders and issue correct parts.
  • Verify parts and material shipments against packing slips.
  • Perform cycle counts and manage materials and inventory operations.
  • Locate and retrieve parts requested by maintenance personnel.
  • Coordinate and organize parts room and supplies under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Perform customer service for vendors and employees, helping them sign out parts as they are used.
  • Maintain computer database/spreadsheets and perform data entry of parts room supply information.
  • Handle miscellaneous parts room filing and keep the work area clean and organized.
