About The Position

The Maintenance Planner Supervisor is responsible for daily equipment maintenance planning and setting daily priorities for the Maintenance Department. This role focuses on developing and managing maintenance programs and processes while partnering closely with Operations to increase productivity and profitability and reduce equipment downtime. This position will work effectively with outside vendors to support bid specifications, project execution, and troubleshooting of system issues. This position manages and oversees the parts room, including inventory control and assigned team members. The role consults with and directs maintenance personnel on equipment reliability, preventative maintenance (PM) programs, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring PMs are implemented, tracked, and optimized.

Requirements

  • Four (4) or more years of experience in industrial maintenance; food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate root cause analysis using 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and structured root cause programs.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance programs with a solid understanding of maintenance cost control and financial impact.
  • Proven experience using maintenance scheduling and CMMS software, including SAP and other computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to adapt effectively to changing operational and organizational needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across multiple functions and disciplines.
  • Proven ability to assess, evaluate, and resolve problems using sound judgment and data-driven decision making.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external business partners, and to lead, coach, and develop employees.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Review SAP planned process orders and plant production schedules to coordinate the review, release, and issuance of production orders.
  • Manage inventory levels and all related changes within SAP.
  • Provide analytical and day-to-day operational support to all Materials functions, including Purchasing, Production Planning, and Warehouse.
  • Analyze, track, and report Maintenance Department KPIs, including schedule, inventory accuracy, downtime, and product release timing.
  • Schedule and prioritize work assignments to meet operational needs while maintaining budget compliance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and review daily downtime reports to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure all required permits and pre-work inspections are completed and maintained in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain parts and MRO inventory at or below budgeted levels.
  • Research competitive pricing and establish new vendors to support cost control and equipment reliability.
  • Ensure all parts are properly assigned item numbers and entered into SAP and inventory control systems.
  • Partner closely with the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Mechanics during major equipment breakdowns and critical repairs.
  • Train team members on parts inventory procedures and systems.
  • Coordinate and ensure all equipment are properly maintained and upgraded as needed to support production and reliability goals.
  • Prepare and maintain daily logs, including scheduled and unscheduled work orders and preventive maintenance (PM) documentation.
  • Stay current on new technologies and apply improvements where applicable to manufacturing processes.
  • Develop, review, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for areas of responsibility.
  • Supervise MRO and Purchasing roles to ensure alignment with maintenance and operational objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Engineering Manager.
