About The Position

The Maintenance Planner at Armstrong World Industries is responsible for overseeing maintenance planning and ensuring daily operations effectiveness. This role involves evaluating work requests, coordinating maintenance schedules, managing material availability, and collaborating with various teams to align maintenance activities with production priorities. The position requires a proactive approach to improve maintenance processes and drive cost efficiencies while supporting the overall maintenance strategy of the plant.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of industrial maintenance experience or equivalent education.
  • Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance and contractor manpower.
  • MRO purchasing experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • SAP proficiency.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong facilitation and communication abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP work order management processes.
  • Experience with SAP inventory management processes.
  • PDM background is a plus.
  • Experience with Lean processes.
  • Experience in problem-solving techniques such as 5-why, 8 Step, and DMAIC.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate requested work and perform site inspections to determine technical, manpower, and material requirements.
  • Ensure material availability by managing inventory or requisitioning for specific projects.
  • Assist the Maintenance Coordinator with staging and kitting parts prior to work execution.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor external contractor activities as needed.
  • Coordinate work with production, maintenance, and staff to align with plant priorities.
  • Assist in developing weekly, down day, and outage maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate internal and external equipment spare rebuilds.
  • Monitor preventative maintenance plans for compliance.
  • Develop and maintain SAP maintenance plans and associated master data.
  • Participate in the development of plant maintenance budgets.
  • Maintain knowledge of storeroom and work order planning methods and maintenance best practices.
  • Drive cost improvements in materials and labor efficiencies.
  • Assist with maintenance activities as needed.
  • Serve as backup Maintenance Coordinator during absences.
