About The Position

This position is responsible for scheduling compliance, planning compliances, maintaining a professional relationship with operating and maintenance partners, and timely distribution of reports and metrics. The principal contact and liaison between the maintenance department and all associated ancillary departments plantwide, including USDA, food safety, operations, sanitation, and various vendors. The role involves reviewing work requests from all areas of the plant to determine validity and accuracy of information, engaging with maintenance upper management to set preliminary priorities, and identifying work orders that may require additional engineering design. The individual will also escalate work opportunities seen during daily walks with pre-op/USDA that could interrupt production, enter data into the maintenance software system, and organize all information required for the crafts to perform the work. Additionally, the position requires tracking maintenance downtime from operational reports and keeping accurate metrics on the performance of planning and scheduling functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical background is a must.
  • A technical degree or extended experience in the field is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
  • Ability to recognize equipment problems before they cause actual machine downtime.
  • Adequate craft knowledge and skill to accurately estimate labor hours and material requirements.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of maintenance processes and proper use of the work order program.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal contact and liaison between the maintenance department and all associated ancillary departments plantwide.
  • Review work requests from all areas of the plant to determine validity and accuracy of information.
  • Engage with maintenance upper management to set preliminary priorities.
  • Identify work orders that may require additional engineering design and review with the engineering team.
  • Escalate work opportunities seen during daily walks with pre-op/USDA that could interrupt production.
  • Enter data into the maintenance software system including spare parts, drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Obtain and organize all information required for the crafts to perform the work.
  • Identify and secure all parts and materials required to complete the job through the stores system.
  • Work closely with the stores manager to manage spare parts usage.
  • Receive and document outside contractor labor, ensuring scope understanding and follow-up on completed work.
  • Track maintenance downtime from operational reports and post trending mechanisms.
  • Follow up with supervisors and leads to ensure completed work assignments are turned in with improvement comments.
  • Keep accurate metrics on the performance of planning and scheduling functions and provide timely reports.
