The Maintenance Painter at Mount Sinai Morningside is responsible for preparing, painting, and maintaining internal and external surfaces throughout the building. This role involves applying coats of paint, varnish, lacquer, stains, or enamel to decorate and protect various surfaces, including trimmings and fixtures. The painter will smooth surfaces using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool, and remove old paint using paint remover, scrapers, or wire brushes to prepare surfaces for painting. Additionally, the painter will patch and fill nail holes, cracks, and other imperfections with putty, plaster, sheetrock, taping, and any necessary filler. The role also requires selecting premixed paints or preparing paint to match specified colors by mixing the required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances. Special effects may be created by applying paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers.
