About The Position

The position involves ensuring adherence to site safety standards and policies, performing scheduled and breakdown repairs on various mechanical systems, and troubleshooting equipment reliability issues. The role requires collaboration with supervisors to resolve hazards and maintain a safe working environment. Responsibilities also include completing work orders, maintaining equipment files, and aiding in the selection of components for repairs. Additional tasks involve installing and modifying piping systems, performing minor structural work, and participating in facility snow removal activities.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and their components.
  • Ability to read and interpret standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Previous experience with rigging and other standard skills of the trade.
  • Ability to lift and control a minimum of 50 lbs. from floor level to standing position.
  • Ability to regularly walk, bend, squat, and climb stairs/ladders/scaffolds in various environments year-round.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including full face respirator, safety boots, safety glasses, and hard hat.
  • Ability to work in cramped and confined spaces.
  • Math skills including weights, measures, and conversions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills including SAP and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work a rotating on-call schedule covering nights and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-5 years maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience in boiler operation and maintenance.
  • Experience with boiler and cooling tower water treatment.
  • 24-hour HAZWOPER certified.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for equipment and basic LOTO procedures.
  • Forklift certified.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to site safety standards and policies to ensure safe work for all staff, contractors, and site visitors.
  • Stop work and report hazards to the supervisor; work together to resolve hazards before resuming work.
  • Perform scheduled and breakdown repairs on pumps, valves, piping systems, agitation systems, fans, blowers, and mechanical seals.
  • Troubleshoot equipment reliability issues and assist in developing repair plans.
  • Complete work orders and report results to management; maintain daily shift logs and update plant equipment files.
  • Aid in the selection of required components and determine quantities for repairs and spare stock.
  • Install and modify existing and new piping systems.
  • Become knowledgeable in the application of all site Maintenance and Safety Procedures.
  • Perform minor structural, painting, concrete, insulation, and light sheet metal work.
  • Participate in facility snow removal using shovels, snow blowers, plow trucks, and bobcats.
