About The Position

This position is responsible for the daily activity of the Maintenance Operations Division through subordinate supervisors. Works under very general supervision with considerable latitude for devising work practices and schedules. Coordinate, implement and budget maintenance projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent education, licensing, and experience to efficiently perform the duties and responsibilities of the position may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Six years of experience, three of which is supervisory, at an advanced wastewater treatment plant or 10 years of experience in a similarly related process.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Class B wastewater license, Class A preferred (required within 2 years of position acceptance if applicant does not meet the preferred educational requirement).
  • Must have thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment at a large advanced wastewater treatment plant.
  • Must be able to evaluate situations and analyze problems to make decisions necessary for corrective measures with little direction.
  • May be called up to make decisions regarding emergency situations at all hours.
  • Must be able to motivate large crews to complete assigned tasks and deal with individuals from highly technical education to unskilled labor backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises a group of non-exempt maintenance employees to include hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation. Schedules personnel training and instruction, as required, to maintain a capable and proficient maintenance staff.
  • Analyzes difficult maintenance problems and takes corrective action.
  • Prepares estimates and coordinates use of materials and labor required for maintenance operations.
  • Inspects buildings, equipment and grounds alerting crews to recognize needed repairs and perform preventive maintenance as required.
  • Reviews present and past maintenance records for major purchases, expenses, and equipment failures; drafts written correspondence regarding recommendations, or changes, with supporting data and documentation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of technological advances and changes in statues and long-range planning objectives that impact the department.
  • Coordinates with other Department Managers, Division Chiefs, and supervisors pertaining to equipment problems and status within their areas of their responsibilities. Ensures the highest level of reliability and availability for process equipment.
  • Develops, maintains, and ensures subordinate’s compliance with maintenance directives, criteria and manuals. Ensures continuing attention to accident prevention and safety.
  • Drives program compliance within the division to ensure the implementation and operational activities of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM). Leads Maximo program development from an end-user perspective; develops knowledge, skills, and abilities as system matter expected for Maximo.
  • Employees assigned to this position are classified as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and/or emergency situations including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely.
