Shaw Industries is searching for a driven Mechanical Process Engineer who will support plant maintenance activities with a focus on safety, cost control, and operational efficiency. This role works independently and partners closely with Maintenance and Operations. Key responsibilities include developing maintenance procedures such as Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) processes. The engineer maintains positive working relationships, participates in weekly maintenance meetings, and takes appropriate action to address employee performance or behavior concerns.

  • Develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance (PM) and utility equipment operating procedures for Maintenance area.
  • Work with Predictive Maintenance (PdM) team on reliability efforts across the plant.
  • Serve as a troubleshooting resource for plant equipment.
  • Lead effort to document Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) metrics.
  • Work with the Maintenance Planner and Supervisors to ensure the Maintenance Department is following the TPM process.
  • Manage the process of keeping an adequate supply of critical spare parts.
  • Work with Planners on SHARP work order system and document control for the Maintenance Department (Administrator Role).
  • Lead effort to identify standard work and establish tiered communications for Maintenance Associates.
  • Perform contractor work permits, hot work permits, critical lift permits, line break permits, etc.
  • Attend weekly scheduling meetings in each operating area.
  • Complete capital and expense projects assigned by the Plant Engineer.
  • Drive energy reduction efforts of the plant.
  • Manage building automation systems.
  • Organize and maintain the engineering drawings.
  • Actively support and participate in the implementation of document control, TPM.
  • Actively support and participate in achieving SAFE certification.
  • Serve on 6 Sigma, quality, safety, and maintenance teams as required.
  • Perform all job duties using safe work methods.
  • Ensure safety and departmental policies and procedures are followed.
  • Initiate and document the initial investigation of safety and environmental issues.
  • With the EHS department and Maintenance leadership, investigate improvements in personal protective equipment (PPE) and work with operators to identify unsafe acts and conditions.
  • 4 year degree required; Engineering degree preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt trained or willingness to complete training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Suite (preferred).
  • Previous manufacturing experience (preferred).
