About The Position

This position involves working with maintenance, operations, and management personnel to ensure a safe and cost-efficient program for maintaining the company's equipment and facility assets. The role requires utilizing best maintenance practices to maximize equipment reliability and efficiency. While duties are primarily performed during the day shift, the position entails responsibility for a 24/7 operation, requiring scheduled 'on-call' status. Call-outs, overtime, and work during weekends and holidays may be necessary as conditions demand.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and 5 years of maintenance experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate fluently in verbal and written form
  • Meticulous attention to detail regarding accuracy of work performed
  • Good math skills including basic arithmetic functions and common units of measurement
  • Computer skills sufficient to operate CMMS and fill out maintenance work requests
  • Ability to use all tools and precision instruments for maintenance tasks
  • Ability to access and work in all areas of the plant, including heights up to 125' and confined spaces
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or move a minimum of 75 pounds
  • Ability to work in adverse outdoor weather conditions
  • Tolerate exposure to temperature extremes, dust, noise, and vibration
  • Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions
  • Knowledge of best-maintenance practices
  • Ability to safely operate front-end loader, skid-steer loader, forklift, hoists, and cranes
  • Willingness to be cross-trained in other job functions
  • Strict adherence to safety policies
  • Valid driver license

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs to all plant equipment
  • Perform unscheduled (breakdown) repairs to any plant equipment as directed
  • Understand the process, all plant equipment, associated controls & instrumentation, power systems, and safe maintenance practices
  • Utilize manuals, blueprints, parts catalogs, vendors, technical experts, and CMMS to maintain equipment and diagnose malfunctions
  • Perform timely, accurate record keeping in CMMS for inventory control, parts orders, and equipment files
  • Maintain shift records of mechanical, operational, environmental, and safety data
  • Adhere to all safety & environmental rules
  • Perform routine equipment inspections & lubrication
  • Fabricate guards, base plates, chutes, etc.
  • Cut mild and stainless steel using Oxy/acet and plasma
  • Weld mild and stainless steel using stick & wire-feed methods
  • Align drives, bearings, motors, shafts, couplings, sprockets, and sheaves using precision alignment tools
  • Safely remove & install equipment/components using proper rigging techniques
  • Maintain kiln drive systems, bowl mills, roll crushers, belt conveyors, and other equipment
  • Perform refractory repairs
  • Change bags, cages, and components in process dust collectors
  • Utilize carpentry & pipefitting skills
  • Assist electricians with basic electrical knowledge
  • Perform routine clean-up of work areas before & after maintenance jobs
  • Direct operations personnel assisting with maintenance functions
  • Assist operations personnel as required
