The Moberly, Missouri staff is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and the building and grounds. The Operators/Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible not only for process monitoring and adjustments but will perform basic mechanical repairs on pumps, compressors, valves, and much more. You will participate in the daily operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility as directed by the plant manager. Our staff participates in an “on call” rotation for plant coverage outside normal workday hours and shifts may include weekends and holidays. In addition, operators will be required to respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed. Schedule: The schedule is typically 8 on 6 off. Hours: 6:00pm to 4:00am. The operators work from Tuesday through the following Tuesday and then get the next 6 days off. Weekdays are 10 hour days and the weekends (Saturday & Sunday) and holidays are 12 hour days

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of pumps, motors, electrical and automation equipment, plumbing fixtures, boilers, and compressors.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in wastewater treatment work.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings, and specifications for work assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs., climb up and down stairs multiple times a shift, and work from heights of 12 feet on a regular basis.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a wastewater treatment facility preferred.
  • High School or trade school diploma is required, Associate Degree or higher preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, and ability to use & learn various software programs [Hach WIMS, SEMS CMMS, and Utility Cloud], preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the daily operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility as directed by the Plant/Project Manager.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repair of all plant equipment.
  • Daily inspection of operating sites.
  • Performs data entry and report generation, including data for preparing the Monthly Operating Report.
  • Coordinates to ensure that other plant employees follow established administrative, safety, and operating policies.
  • Monitors and controls assigned tasks to ensure cost-effective service.
