The Opportunity Our USGO Appalachia Region Operations team is looking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver in Pennsylvania to support Waynesburg/Delmont CS in PA. We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic who has knowledge and experience to diagnose trouble, dismantle, repair, assemble, and perform scheduled maintenance on controls, engines, compressors, auxiliary, and various other types of compressor station equipment. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skills What you’ll do Compile or furnish information for miscellaneous reports and forms Work from blueprints and construction drawings Inspect for gas leaks and assist in maintaining safety equipment Perform preventative maintenance and overhaul of engines using micrometers, dial indicators, and miscellaneous hand tools Troubleshoot automatic control systems (electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic), locating defective parts and correcting trouble Possess an in-depth understanding of the entire facility in order to operate, repair, train, and develop others Assist in assigning duties and monitoring operations and reports to supervisor when required Manage contractors and vendors while on-site Adhere to environmental policies by collecting samples Follow appropriate reporting procedures as it pertains to the associated cleanup of spills Assist in the compilation of shipping manifests Assist in planning of work and participate as necessary in safety and/or team meetings and discussions Coordinate with gas control regarding the scheduling of maintenance to ensure operation of facility is at peak at all times Perform valve and operator maintenance Test overpressure protection devices and unit controls in accordance with recommended guidelines Order/reorder necessary parts and supplies Test and inspect lubricating systems Conduct NDI/NDT and ultrasonic testing when necessary Execute all planned preventative maintenance on prime movers or other equipment such as web deflections, bump checks, crank shaft alignments, etc. Compile station operating budget and various annual operating reports Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP Other tasks as required Assist with construction and replacement of new and existing lines Patrol pipeline, repair leaks, dig and backfill ditches and bell holes Coat and lay pipe Install anodes and gates Operate equipment, such as: power winch, pneumatic tools (pavement breakers, jack hammers and tampers), tapping machine, and water pumps and using hand tools, such as: picks, shovels, pipe and ratchet wrenches, dies, pipe cutters, etc.)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of operations and maintenance of gas engines, compressors, automatic control equipment, gas engine driven electric power plants, pumps, and other auxiliary equipment operated by internal combustion engines
  • Ability to understand piping operating drawings
  • Relevant natural gas or energy industry experience
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, to include drug and alcohol testing
  • Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
  • Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures
  • Be confined-space trained
  • Pass respiratory fit test and use equipment such as SCBA and other respirators
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
  • Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting large-bore reciprocating engines
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engines, centrifugal gas compressors, and standby generators
  • Industrial experience in a plant environment

Responsibilities
