About The Position

ERG is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to assist with facilities projects for a Department of Defense (DoD) client. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on various systems and equipment within buildings, including electrical, plumbing, and general building infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to troubleshoot and repair issues, and the ability to work independently while ensuring a safe, efficient, and functional environment for all building occupants. The position is based out of a federal site in Indian Head, Maryland.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic Tradesman's experience or knowledge in one of the following skill sets: Carpentry, Flooring, Drywall finishing, Roofing, Concrete/Masonry, basic electrical, basic plumbing
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance
  • Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
  • This position will require a pre-employment physical exam
  • This position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing, and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
  • Must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts
  • Must be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move furniture and other items
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs and ladders (where applicable)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with state and local building codes, OSHA regulations, and NFPA standards a plus

Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
  • Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure facilities remain operational and functional
  • Assist with emergency repairs and respond to urgent situations as needed
