About The Position

The district reserves all rights to determine/change assignments and schedules in accordance with Article 16 of the Agreement between the CSEA and the Superintendent. 40 hours per week Initial hours of assignment: 1: Monday-Friday (2:30pm – 11:00pm) 2: Monday-Friday (2:30pm – 11:00pm) 3: Monday-Friday (10:30pm – 7:00am) 4: Monday-Friday (10:30pm – 7:00am) 5: Monday-Friday (6:30am – 3:00pm) 6: Monday-Friday (6:30am – 3:00pm) (All inclusive of ½ hour unpaid lunch) (per contract: subject to alternate shift) Please note: Shift may be altered temporarily to facilitate training of new staff members for a mutually agreed upon period of time. DUTIES: Performs maintenance on building mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and building control systems. Also performs electrical installations and repairs. Typical Work Activities: Is familiar with and contributes to the successful implementation of the District's Mission and Belief statements; Performs skilled work in one or more of the building or service trades; Plans work, estimates material and supplies required, may read blueprints to determine outcome of work indicated, interprets diagrams, charts and specifications, requests supplies and equipment; Operates power equipment hand tools and testing equipment, maintains equipment and shop in good condition; May repair trucks, tractors, lawn mowers, and other equipment; Repairs and refinishes desks, tables, chairs and other furniture; Cleans and paints walls, woodwork and floors; Inspects, installs and replaces steam and other piping, radiator traps, valves, gauges, pumps and other accessories and fittings; Grinds and packs valves, packs pumps, replaces worn pipe flanges and gaskets; Replaces light bulbs, fuses and fixtures and makes minor electrical installations; Replaces window glass, cords and repairs window frames; Repairs cabinets, desks, tables and other office equipment. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of experience in the building or service trades; OR Seven (7) years of experience in the building or service trades; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B)
  • Possession of a valid Class D New York State driver's license with a clean driving record at the time of appointment.
  • Minimum 3 years computer experience - knowledge in Windows and Direct Digital Control programming.
  • Knowledge of tools, terminology and practices of skilled trades.
  • 5 years minimum HVAC experience with commercial type equipment, strong trouble shooting skills, experience with heat pump equipment.
  • 5 years building maintenance, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electricity or carpentry.
  • Good knowledge of the tools, terminology, procedures and equipment of one or more of the skilled maintenance or repair trades ability to make a variety of skilled repairs and installations rapidly and accurately
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints and specifications

Nice To Haves

  • Trade level experience in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing
  • Commercial Class A (CDL) license
