St. Ann’s Community is currently looking for a dedicated evening Maintenance Mechanic for St. Ann’s Home located on the Irondequoit Campus. In position is responsible for the inspection and the maintenance/repair of the plant and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of related experience and/or training in an institutional setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Works to assist the Building Maintenance Foreman and/or the Power Plant & Maintenance Manager with the completion of room ready, project, preventive maintenance, and daily work assignments.
  • Provides daily assessment of the condition of facilities for areas or items requiring repair to Building Maintenance Foreman and/or the Power Plant & Maintenance Manager.
  • Makes preventive maintenance inspections and performs preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Assists in updating preventive maintenance procedures to ensure periodic equipment maintenance needs are met.
  • Ensures that all assigned work orders are satisfactorily closed out and supporting data is entered into the work order management system.
  • Trouble shoots and makes repairs to facility equipment.
  • Involves senior Power Plant & Maintenance staff when working on complex equipment.
  • Performs minor plumbing repairs on water, steam, waste, and airlines as required.
  • Paints, plasters, and repairs wall finishes, as required and assigned.
  • Patches floors or walls and installs VCT or ceramic floor tile on floors or walls as necessary.
  • Regularly reports progress on assigned tasks or projects to the Building Maintenance Foreman and/or the Power Plant & Maintenance Manager.
  • Coordinates the accomplishment of goals and expectations set by the Building Maintenance Foreman and/or the Power Plant & Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensures that all supporting paperwork for each task performed is complete and accurate. Documentation should reflect the time spent (starting time, completion time, and actual hours), date completed, parts used, comments explaining procedure used to complete the task, and any other pertinent information.
  • Ensures that work areas, storage areas, and equipment spaces are kept neat, clean, and orderly.
  • Ensures that all required workspace clearances for equipment are clearly marked and maintained.
  • Maintains the condition of and ensures the availability of tools, equipment, parts, and materials necessary for repairs, preventive maintenance, and to ensure the uninterrupted operation of all assigned areas and equipment.
  • Occasionally operates rental equipment required for installations or repair projects.
  • May be assigned tasks involving renovation or refurbishment projects.
  • Uses safe methods for performing assigned tasks and utilizes appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required by the task being performed.
  • Keeps storage areas, and job sites neat, clean, and free from hazards, which could result in resident or personal injury; fire hazards; tripping hazards; or chemical ingestion hazards.
  • Works on an “On-Call” schedule to meet the 24-hour repair needs of the facility on a rotating schedule with other qualified mechanics as outlined and detailed in the “On-Call Mechanic” Policy and Procedure.
  • Performs all other tasks, assignments, and duties as requested, assigned, or required by department manager and/or director.
