Requirements

  • Must be able to identify and correct safety issues.
  • Must have proven ability to safely operate and troubleshoot various manufacturing production equipment.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of electricity in A/C voltages ranging from 120-480 (3 phase).
  • Knowledge of machine process and machine tool set up and quick changeovers.
  • Ability to obtain an industrial powered truck license.
  • Ability to work effectively alone or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written multi-step directions for complex machine operations and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and experience of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Visual acuity, including depth perception and color vision, is required.
  • Visual acuity and hand dexterity to handle parts, supplies, tools and other related work materials is required.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, assembly drawings, and schematics.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Trade or vocational training with a combination of 5 or more years of hands-on development in the workplace
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Ladder Logic, PLC’s and PLC programming.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, welding, and computers.
  • Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Mathematical proficiency for measurements and calculations
  • Working knowledge of the NEC, NFPA, and OSHA regulations
  • Proficient experience in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word.)
  • Continuous standing during a shift (8-10 hours) with frequent reaching, pulling, kneeling, crouching, or bending.
  • Must be able to continuously lift, push and pull up to 10 lbs., for 8-10 hours per day, frequently lift, push and pull objects weighing up to 25 lbs., and on occasion, lift over 60 lbs. This capability will either be determined from a physical exam, or verifiable past performance.
  • Travel between campus buildings to perform maintenance repairs.
  • Occasionally climb stairs and ladders, while reaching and balancing.
  • Requirement to wear steel toe shoes.
  • Routine use of respirator and completion of annual retesting and training.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training classes/certifications in PLCs, Tool & Die, and CNS is a plus.
  • Lean manufacturing training and familiarity with ISO are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Follow all quality procedures and instructions.
  • Perform general and preventative maintenance on all production machinery, equipment and facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment, as necessary to service the needs of the manufacturing departments.
  • Perform major rebuilding of capital equipment including disassembly of components for inspection, modification, and replacement. This includes, but is not limited to, gearboxes, pumps, spindles, valves and actuators.
  • Identify and request the necessary materials to make repairs.
  • Assist in the installation and relocation of equipment. This will include leveling, plumbing, assisting with the electrical connections, and other services as required.
  • Test equipment for safety and functionality before returning it for service.
  • Perform any repair service necessary on equipment, facilities, or grounds including, but not limited to, normal wiring and installations at machines.
  • Maintain inventory of all regularly used parts and materials normally considered as maintenance or electrical repair times and initiate related requisitions.
  • Work with outside vendors to complete projects.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, supplies used, and repair parts using the digital maintenance system.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement efforts to reduce downtime, cycle time, improve efficiency and eliminate waste within the processing environment. All interactions, workflow, productivity levels and quality standards are implemented with a “Customer Service” approach to both the internal and external customers.
  • Exercise initiative in identification and completion of work assignments.
  • Maintain an acceptable level of efficiency to optimize up time and to support department and divisional goals and objectives.
  • Volunteer and participate in lean projects.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the work area.
  • Respond to emergency calls during off hours if required.
  • Attend off-site training if required.
  • Other related duties as directed by management.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is essential to teamwork, timely information exchange, and meeting productivity requirements.
  • As is customary in the trades, maintenance mechanics bring their own general tools, and specialized tools are provided by the company. Reimbursement is available for pre-approved tool expenses necessary for the completion of assigned tasks.
