Maintenance Mechanic - Meat Production Plant Schedule: 1st shift: Monday-Friday; some Saturdays and occasional Sundays. 2nd shift: Monday-Friday; some Saturdays and occasional Sundays. Hours: 1st shift: 6am start. 8-10 Hour days/until production ends. 2nd shift: 2pm start. 8-10 Hour days/until production ends. Pay Rate: 1st shift: $24 to $27+ to start based on experience. 2nd shift: $24 to $27+ to start based on experience.

Requirements

  • Working maintenance experience and training in the food processing industry which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work
  • Food manufacturing background
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Must have a high math aptitude; be assertive; and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to understand, read, speak, and write in English at 12th grade level for reading machine manuals, schematics, wiring charts, motor repair, MSDS, etc.
  • Must be able to withstand long periods in cold, warm, or wet/damp environments
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Dress Code: Composite toe or Steel toe safety boots (Waterproof, Slip resistant). Electrical hazard safety shoes preferred.

  • Meat processing background is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform repairs and preventative maintenance on production floor and facility
  • Work efficiently with production staff to support the day-to-day production processes with a sense of urgency
  • Troubleshoot and rebuild on all types of food packaging machinery, motors, and similar devices
  • Work safely with basic electricity, hydraulic, pneumatic, and thermal energy
  • Report any deficiencies to a supervisor in a timely manner
  • Maintain minimal production down time and solutions to reduce time
  • Correct use of lockout/tagout program
  • Account for tools, utensils and other potentially dangerous equipment that are distributed daily
  • Attend documented training on company procedures
  • Keep the maintenance shop and all work areas clean and organized
  • Follow all HACCP, SSOP’s, SOP’s, and GMP policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
