About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic plays a key role in executing assigned maintenance tasks. This includes performing full-break downs and rebuilds of production equipment as well as performing preventative maintenance on all production equipment.

Requirements

  • GED or High School diploma is preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience within the mechanical field.
  • Proficiency with VFDs, stretch/blow molding equipment, conveyors, pumps, pneumatic sanitary valves, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems, along with programmable logic controllers and instrumentation/controls.
  • Experience maintaining closed cooling systems including evaporator towers, water cooling towers, and industrial chillers used in manufacturing operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Food manufacturing environment experience preferred, with HVAC experience considered an additional asset for maintaining sanitary processing conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on dairy processing equipment including pasteurizers, homogenizers, separators, pumps, conveyors, and packaging machinery to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production operations.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment while following lockout/tagout procedures and safety protocols in a food-grade environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions quickly to restore production lines, working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor controls, and automated systems common in dairy processing facilities.
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems including temperature sensors, pressure gauges, flow meters, and automated valves to ensure accurate monitoring of critical processing parameters.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facility infrastructure including steam systems, compressed air lines, refrigeration equipment, and water treatment systems, identifying potential issues before they impact production.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records, work orders, and equipment histories in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) while coordinating with production teams to schedule repairs during planned downtime and minimize disruption to operations.
