About The Position

Reporting to the Molding Maintenance Supervisor, the Molding Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing injection molding machines and troubleshooting hydraulics and pneumatics. The primary job function is to respond to machines that require repair (breakdowns) or require improved performance. This person will also perform Preventative Maintenance or work on projects, when time permits, as directed by the Molding Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a maintenance position
  • Mechanically inclined with ability to provide their own basic hand tools.
  • Knowledge of the use of hand tools including but not limited to grinders, wrenches, drills, hammers, saws etc.
  • Strong reading and mathematical skills are required including basic measuring skills using dial calipers, inside and outside micrometers, pin gauges, etc. as required.
  • Ability to be forklift and crane operation certified.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 3-5 years preventative maintenance experience, preferably in the molding or injection molding industry
  • Experience completing mechanical work in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in food safety, quality or printing technology is preferred
  • Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven track record working with people and problem resolution and strong interpersonal, collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to root cause and determine permanent corrective actions and general knowledge of injection molding and thermoforming processes. Effective planning and organizational skills and ability to manage significant workload including conflicting priorities. Proven ability to deliver results

Responsibilities

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on Machines
  • Take machine apart
  • Clean machine parts to ensure proper functioning
  • Inspect bushings, seals, and bearings
  • Check parts for wear and tear and replace faulty machine parts
  • Replace faulty parts
  • Re-assemble machine after inspection and mechanic work is complete
  • Test machines for proper functioning
  • Troubleshoot Equipment Breakdowns
  • Clean the work area
  • Find the trouble spot
  • Resolve, fix, and repair mechanical machine issues
  • Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Parts Handling Troubleshooting
  • Check air valve, air cylinders and pistons
  • Check pumps, valves, and cylinders
  • Change hydraulics fluids when necessary
  • Repair and adjust stackers, conveyors, robots when required
